You may have downloaded our PDF guide to planning permission and be wondering, “isn’t that enough?” The honest answer is that whilst not all building works require planning permission, the majority do require building control approval.
With or without the need for planning permission you will need to submit a building control application for the following types of work:
- Structural alterations such as removing load-bearing walls or chimney-breasts
- House extensions
- Loft and garage conversions
- Buried drainage works.
The above works will require the input of a Building Control Inspector.
A Building Control Inspector approves building control applications. Our PDF gives an overview of their role and how they can assist you.
